On the main menu click and you will get this menu.

Please note that as you navigate around the menus, at the bottom left of the applications window you will be shown where you are

In this example I will use Asda data.
|

As data comes in a different format from each store group the application needs to know which kind to look for, but the process within the application is identical.
|
For Sainsbury's click ,

This menu is arranged so that you go from the top down. Some buttons are optional, but will do no harm if you click them anyway.

Here is an overview of the functions of each button on this menu, followed by a more detailed explanation where it is useful

This shows a description of how to get out of Retail Link the data needed by this application and or Storecheck, including a list of the required fields.

Click this and you will be asked to select to the excel spreadsheet that you want to import.
|

The spreadsheet you selected will be imported. Just leave it alone to run.
Depending on the amount of data this may take a while.
|

This causes the application to find matches between the imported outlet and product details and the main database.

This opens an interface where you can deal with products details which were imported where a match cannot be found in the database.
Obviously if there are no problem products you can ignore this.

This copies all the data which has been validated from the application into the main database.

This returns you to the Import Data Menu

When you click you will see this.

Select the spreadsheet you want to import, in this example Asda Unilever 06032007.xls, and then either double click it or click on
|

The spreadsheet will open and then close quickly. This happens as a by-product of making sure the spreadsheet is saved in the correct version of excel.
|

As changes of the format will have to made to the spreadsheet before it can be imported, a copy of it is also made, and then the changes are made to the copy, so do not be surprised on seeing files called copy_xxx.xls. In this example the changes are made to copy_Asda Unilever 06032007.xls.

When you return to Profits Check there will a progress note under the menu displaying the name of the file to be imported.
|

Click on , and after a length of time, depending on the size of the file which is being imported, you will see the progress notice change to something like this.
|

Click on , and after a length of time, depending on the number of records being validated you should hopefully see the progress note change to something like this.
|

Unfortunately this may not always happen. How to handle these problems is descibed in How to Handle Problem Products

After you have successfully validated the data, as the progress note says, you should click
|

While data is being copied you will have this progress note
|
|
|
When it has finished you will get this message
|
|

and the progress note will show
|
|

If you have another file of Asda EPOS data to import, just click and repeat the process from there
|
If you have finished importing data for Asda just click and you will return to this menu.

If you want to import data from a different store group, just click the relevant import button, or click
|
